Lafayette Tower Unit Ready to be Reinvented

Lafayette Tower Unit Ready to be Reinvented

Ok, let’s get the obvious out of the way – this unit has seen better days, and it’s ready for some serious love. BUT, what a canvas the new owner will have to work with!  This spacious 1,600 square foot corner unit sits at the 21st floor of Lafayette Towers, offering spectacular views of the city and river front.  Designed by Mies van der Rowe and completed in 1961, this building has an impressive pedigree.  Now that it is under new ownership, improvements and revitalization are planned to bring the Towers back to their former grandeur.

What struck me most about this unit (other than the obvious amazing views) was what great potential it had. I’d rip down the wall separating the kitchen from the living room and transform it into an open concept kitchen/eating area with bar seating and fabulous city views from your kitchen sink.  Makes washing dishes almost tolerable.

Throw down some hardwood floors, update the bathrooms, and paint and you’ve got a super stylish city pad with mesmerizing views and two huge bedrooms.  If I had views like this, I don’t think I would ever watch TV again. Imagine enjoying your morning coffee while taking the view below in.
